What are you going to do with your life?

College students HATE this question. We don't want to decide what we're doing with our lives because then we have to face the fact that we have to make decisions for ourselves and lead our own lives. This is a huge decision. I had a panic attack recently when thinking about this question. I'd like to share a few tips that calmed me down.

1. Take a deep breath- everyone has had to answer this question. There is something out there for you- some apartment, some job, some activity that will fulfill you. You won't be stuck wondering and wandering around forever. Most likely you're not going to end up as a bum on the street, so take a deep breathe, you can do this.

2. Make a plan- everything seems more manageable with a plan. Talk to your advisor, your parents, your friends, and come up with a plan. Then find out the best way t put that plan into action. This will immediately relieve stress. Just the thought that I would have a plan soon helped me.

3. You don't have to choose everything right now- Many people change jobs several times. Chances are you aren't going to stay at your first real job forever. So you're not making a decision that will effect the course of your entire life. And don't forget, if you don't like it, you can change your mind. And don't be afraid of that, because most people do.

4. Be smart about your decisions- Shoot for that dream career, just have a back-up plan. Decide what you want to do and then don't be afraid if it's going to take you a while to get there. Think of some awesome thing to do in the meantime, or a job that will help you get to that dream job. Not many people start out with their dream job, many have to work for it and pay their dues, and that's fine.

5. Get excited!- You get to plan your amazing life! Make the most of it!

Scrubs is Over

I discovered Scrubs my senior year in high school when they did their musical episode in season 6. I immediately fell in love with this charming, quirky show and quickly procured all the other seasons. Now I've seen every single episode because the show is gone, once and for all.

But I won't cry for Scrubs. It was hysterical, gave me many laughs and a deep respect for Zach Braff. They also did everything they could to keep the series going. They persevered through the writer's strike, made the move to ABC, and even completely revamped the series in order to have a season 8 without many of their original stars.

If Scrubs hadn't exhausted all resources to stay alive I'd be a little bitter, like I was when Pushing Daisies was cancelled. The first season of Pushing Daisies was cut off due to the writer's strike, then season 2 was cancelled halfway through. This left no room for closure and a very sad Ashley. They didn't even give it a complete season to truly try it out!

Unfortunately the final resource they tried, this revamped season 9, just wasn't good enough to keep Scrubs alive. The med school scenario just wasn't as funny, Judy Reyes (Carla) left and Zach Braff only stayed on for a couple of episodes. It was a valient effort, but there's only so much time you can drag a show along before it just doesn't work anymore.

So long Scrubs, I'll miss you, but I won't mourn you because you had a long and happy life.

Top 5 Reasons Why This Summer is going to be Awesome

So I'm already looking forward to summer, and there are plenty of things to look forward to...

1. Family vacations- my family is going to Telluride and I can't wait! We're vacationing with some extended family and friends too so there will be plenty of people to party with!

2. Catching up with friends- everyone is so busy with work and school at other times, the summer gives us a great opportunity to kick back, relax, and enjoy ourselves with friends.

3. Eclipse comes out June 30th!

4. Toy Story 3 comes out June 18th! I don't care that it's a Disney movie, this series is very clever and incredibly hilarious!

5. Cook outs- I'm not just talking about the fourth of July. The smell of burgers grilling and lemonade is so amazing and comforting.

What are you looking forward to this summer? Comment and let me know!

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW BRODERICK! He's such a talented performer, I brag about having his autograph whenever possible :-P

Twilight scoop and Broadway buzz!

For all you Twilight fans, there is a teaser trailer (other than the 10 second one). You can find it at http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2422342681/

While watching I noticed something strange. Take a close look at Victoria's face. She's different from the first two movies. Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village, Lady in the Water, Spiderman 3) will replace Rachelle Lefevre in the role due to a 10 day scheduling conflict with Lefevre. Lefevre wrote a very angry post about it an Summit responded even more angrily- juicy stuff!

Now for the Broadway buzz, 3 items today

1. How did I not know Little Mermaid closed on Broadway? It closed in August of last year. They are now in the process of scheduling a national tour, but no information is readily available on that yet. I was a little sad because I never got to see the show, but if it lasted only 2 years maybe it wasn't worth seeing anyway.

2. So where did the Little Mermaid stars go? The original Ariel, Sierra Boggess, is now starring as Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber's sequel to Phantom of the Opera, called Love Never Dies. The show has received mixed reviews at best and tells the tale of the Phantom once again trying to win Christine, who is now married with a child.

3. I then looked into what show is replacing The Little Mermaid at the Lunt-Fontanne and got a very pleasant surprise. The new show is the new Addams Family Musical, starring Nathan Lane (The Producers, The Lion King, The Bird Cage) and Bebe Neuwirth (How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Fame). I am a HUGE Nathan Lane fan ever since the Lion King, he is absolutely hysterical and a truly gifted performer! The show sounds hilarious and I hope to see it someday. Apparently it revolves around the daughter of the Addams Family, Wednesday, as she grows up and discovers she has normal human feelings like kindness.

Overdue updates, New Poll, and 5 things to do in this GORGEOUS weather!

Hello everyone!

Sorry I disappeared (for over a week- yikes!). I was on spring break and got carried away with other activities, then I came back to school and got carried away with homework- yuck! Anyway, things are going well, here's a few quick catch-up items...

The Oscars: I didn't watch it- sorry! I went out to dinner with my family, recorded it, and then just never got around to watching it! I did look up the winners though and was pleasantly surprised. Avatar won for visual effects, as it should have, but didn't snag Best Picture, so everything is right with the world. And Star Trek even won an Oscar for make-up, which made me very happy! Sandra Bullock won Best Female Actress over Meryl Streep, which I was content with. Meryl is phenomenal, but I would have given her the Oscar for Devil Wears Prada, not Julie and Julia. And good for Sandra Bullock for snagging her first Oscar! Which is even more hilarious with her double-razzie win for All About Steve. If you haven't seen her acceptance speech it's hilarious. She basically said they must not have watched the film or misunderstood it for her to win Worst Actress of the year, so she brought them all copies of the movie! Now I just have to see the Blind Side...

Poll Results- Wow. I must not have that many Harry Potter Fans. Only a few people voted. Sirius Black and Harry Potter tied for the win. Not much to say there due to the lack of response. Hopefully the NEW POLL on fast food restaurants will get more interest.

5 Things to do in this Gorgeous Weather: in honor of the first truly beautiful day of spring-like weather

1. Enjoy it- don't sit inside all day if you can help it, it's way too pretty!

2. Read a book- I love laying out in the sunshine with a good book. I find that comical books work better than dense books for this because you don't have to concentrate as much and you can let yourself be distracted by the beauty around you without missing crucial things happening in your book.

3. Listen to music- Last summer my sister and I laid out on the back porch with a boom box and listened to the radio. This is especially fun when you call in for the radio contests :-) It also helps you catch up on the current popular songs if you don't normally listen to the radio much like me.

4. Go for a walk- feel the breeze and enjoy the exercise! This doesn't even have to be in a particularly "nature filled" spot as long as you are in the sunshine it is highly rewarding and therapeutic. You can listen to the sounds around you, daydream, or listen to music while you walk!

5. Take pictures- my best friend and I went to the Natural Bridge over spring break and it was so much fun. The bridge itself is amazing and the scenery is great, but that wasn't my favorite part of the trip. We took a camera and took funny pictures whenever we could think of one, making an already great trip even better! And now we have photos to help us remember the fun time we had!

Alice in Wonderland Review

Yesterday I went with my family to see the new Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland in 3D. It was an interesting film and an enjoyable experience overall. Here are a few things I thought were particularly noteworthy.

The casting- In stereotypical Burton fashion, the cast had favorites like Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Alan Rickman. But like I said in a previous post, it's okay to use the same people over and over when they're as fabulous as his choice actors are. The only person I took issue with was Anne Hathaway- her performance as the White Queen was great, but she barely put her hands down the whole film, she kept them up in what I can only describe as a "floating princess way".

The make-up/costuming- Creepy, but good. The bright colors reminded me more of Burton's Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, but there were also dark parts that were more reminiscent of Burton's Sweeney Todd. Johnny Depp is hidden under pounds of make-up as always, and the Mad Hatter may be his strangest look yet. Anne Hathaway is a visual contradiction with almost entirely white make-up and very dark lipstick and eyebrows.

The storyline- Here is where I run into some issues and where the SPOILERS start. When Alice reaches "Underland" (not Wonderland) it is explained that on the Frabjous Day it has been fortold that she will slay the Jabberwocky and restore the White Queen to her throne over her sister, the evil Red Queen. And that's exactly what she does. There weren't really any surpises. Maybe I was expecting too much out of a kids movie, but I was a bit under-whelmed.

Overall I'd give it 3/5 stars. A solid film, but probably not one I'll buy.

Chick Flick Poll Results!

The results are in! This one was pretty predictable, and I'm running out of poll ideas, so COMMENT WITH POLL SUGGESTIONS!

Now, on to the results...

- 27 Dresses- 0%. One of my good friends really likes this movie, I'm not that big of a fan. It does have it's moments though, particularly the drunken rendition of Bennie & the Jetts (and any moment w/James Marsden :-))

- 50 First Dates, He's Just Not That Into You, 10 Things I Hate About You- 16%- I wasn't surprised by 50 First Dates, it's not one of my favorites, but I was expecting 10 Things I Hate About You to get more votes because of Heath Ledger singing "You're Just Too Good to be True/I Love You Baby". I also expected He's Just Not That Into You to get more votes because it's a pretty recent and pretty popular release. The film was okay, but it doesn't really capture the book well. The book is much more empowering.

- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days- 50%, I was very happy about this. This is my favorite chick flick of all time. The chemistry between Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey is wonderful and the storyline is sexy and extremely clever.

What do Britney Spears songs, cigarettes, and Harry Potter all have in common?

They're addictive.

Britney Spears songs- whether you want them to or not, they get stuck in your head and sooner or later you like them. It just happens. Don't deny it. The only song that hasn't grown on me like her others is "Circus," but I still know the whole chorus. For a really fun song look up "Shattered Glass" its hilarious because of its melodramatic tone, but incredibly catchy nonetheless.

Cigarettes- I'm absolutely anti-smoking and have never smoked a cigarette. Enough said.

Harry Potter- what book series has done what Harry Potter has done? I'd argue no series has come close to the mania of Harry Potter (Twilight also has a crazy fan base, but those books aren't nearly as well written, Lord of the Rings is well written but doesn't have as large of a fan base). These books are great and EXTREMELY hard to put down. They're carefully crafted, and a great mixture of drama and comedy. What started out as a children's series has turned into a global phenomenon. Unlike many fads Harry Potter stands the test of time and is a craze worth getting into
