- fmylife.com- 0% Either I don't have enough pessimist readers or this website has become "so last year"
- mylifeisaverage.com- 0% This surprised me. I like MLIA, most of the time. It's worth a laugh, and is a great way to procrastinate. Again, maybe I'm just behind the times
- collegehumor.com- 40% Sometimes this website is over-the-top with explicit sexual references. More often than not it's easy to avoid those articles/videos and skip to the good stuff. I recently discovered the wonderful videos of Jake & Amir and I LOVE them
- youtube.com- 60% This was slightly unfair. All of the other websites are limited in what they put up. Youtube has everything. So I wasn't surprised it won, but the deck was stacked against everything else.

gLee tour: genius or disaster waiting to happen?
For those of you like me that can't get enough of gLee, they've decided to do a tour. They'll sing lots of favorites from the show and they have hired the same set designer Lady Gaga uses. Sounds wonderful, no?
I'm a little skeptical. Apparently this tour is going to have a plot, which worries me. The plot will have some variation of New Directions preparing to battle Vocal Adrenaline. Why not just sing songs? People will still pay oodles of money for it, and a plot attached to a tour could be downright laughable if not put together incredibly well.
There also have already been jokes made about lip syncing. I hope this is not true. gLee is doing so well, last week's Madonna episode was great, they do not need to become the next Ashlee Simpson. It's completely understandable that they pre-record the music for their episodes, but if they're going to bother to do a tour, they should be singing for real.
Would I still go if I had the time/money? Absolutely. Am I little worried about gLee becoming too much like High School Musical? Absolutely.

Great Song Lyrics
Some song lyrics make me cringe. But some are really well done. Here are a few I love...can you tell who my favorites artists are? :-P PLEASE comment with your favorites!
- "You're just a product of loveliness"- Michael Jackson, The Way You Make Me Feel
- "She never gives out, and she never gives in, she just changes her mind"- Billy Joel, She's Always A Woman
- "And every time I've held a rose, It seems I only felt the thorns, And so it goes, and so it goes, And so will you soon I suppose"- Billy Joel, And So It Goes
- "Don't go changing, to try and please me, you've never let me down before"- Billy Joel, Just The Way You Are
- "I am not a hero, I am not an angel, I am just a man, a man who's trying to love her, unlike any other, in her eyes I am"- Josh Groban, In Her Eyes

Nicknames for Short People and gLee Poll Results
I'm "vertically challenged." I'm 5 ft, 1/2 an inch tall. I've always been short and I've learned to love it. I'd much rather be too short than too tall, and I'm tall enough to do all of the necessary things like driving.
What still gets on my nerves sometimes is the nicknames. I've decided to list a couple acceptable nicknames for short people, at least based on my personal experience, and nicknames to steer clear of.
Bad nicknames
- shawty- don't even go there
- midget- offensive
Good nicknames
- short stuff- sometimes cute, depends on my mood
- little one- I actually like this one
gLee poll results!
I had to do this poll because I LOVE gLee. I was a bit disappointed by the episode last Tuesday, but I have high hopes for the Madonna episode tomorrow! I also realized that I could have included Kristin Chenoweth, because she's coming back on the show to reprise her roll as April Rhodes, but this way all the guest stars in question are brand new!
Olivia Newton-John- 0% Guess we have no Grease fans out there...should be interesting to see her and Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester) remake the "Physical" music video.
Jonathan Groff- 20% At first I was shocked by this. He's a Broadway star, and did you HEAR and SEE him performing "Highway to Hell" last episode? AMAZING. But then I thought about who he was up against, and I didn't feel so bad. Jonathan Groff, you're wonderful, but you simply don't have the following of either of our top stars.
Idina Menzel and Neil Patrick Harris- 40% each. I was happy with this. I have been a fan of Idina ever since I discovered Wicked, she has some amazing pipes! Unfortunately, I grew a little jaded with her because of her excessive and sometimes distracting breathing while she sings. I know she has asthma, but shouldn't a Tony-winning Broadway actress know how to breath correctly when singing? I have no qualms whatsoever with Neil Patrick Harris, though I don't know much about him. Most of my experience with him is limited to watching him host the Tony Awards, and if that's any indication of him as a performer he's going to be hysterical and a perfect match for gLee.

The Pros and Cons of Nostalgia
Sometimes nostalgia is great. You get to look back on all the fond memories you've had so far- that crazy play you did, that high school dance, etc. You wish you could do it all over again because it was so much fun.
But not all nostalgia is good. I mean, who hasn't looked back and wished they'd done some things differently? I went through a VERY angsty phase my senior year in high school and if I could, I would walk up to my senior self, shake her by the shoulders, and say "Stop being upset for no reason! Enjoy life and the great experiences you're surrounded by."
Does this mean we should supress bad memories so looking back isn't as painful? I'm not sure. What I do know is that you can't change the past but you can learn from it, and dwelling on embarassing things that happened to you isn't healthy or helpful.
Moral of the story- let it go. Address your issues, learn from them, then move on. It's not easy but it is necessary. Life is about living, moving forward and not being caught up in the past. And you can't do any of those things while letting your baggage weigh you down.

24 cancelled, The Faux 1 1, and something for Twilight fans
So I'm a little slow on the uptake on this, but 24 has officially been cancelled. I got a late start on this series so I've only seen the first 2 seasons, but it's an enjoyable show. Of course, I can't look at the guy who plays President Palmer without thinking of Allstate commercials, but that's beside the point. Apparently they're exploring movie options...but that's what they said with Pushing Daisies too...
I want to draw your attention to a website I sometimes visit. On "The Faux 1 1" host Devon takes real questions from her viewers about their favorite celebrities and asks these "celebrities" (usually Devon dressed up) for their answers. It's usually pretty funny (I highly recommend the one on Kristen Stewarts (lack of) acting skills), but occasionally they're just downright bizarre. But it's worth a look!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Tom Cruise auditioned for the role of "Eddie" Cullen? Wonder no more.

What I've been up to, the importance of sleeping, and the return of Glee!
So yet again I'm writing after too long of an absence. Oh well. Time to get this thing rolling again! My goal is to write something at least every other day. I was doing well for a while there, then I fell of the wagon. I'm hopping back on and starting off with an update.
This time is crazy for college students. All the big projects, papers and tests are this week and next week, and a few weeks after that are finals. I have a 15 page paper due Thursday, a 6 page paper due the Monday after that, an 8 page paper due the Friday after that, and a 4 page paper due the following Monday. That's why I haven't been blogging much. Naturally this busy time of the semester can lead to lots of stress, and a major way to combat that stress is by sleeping.
To clarify, when I say sleeping I don't mean that two hours where you pass out from pure exhaustion and then wake up halfway through the class you were planning on going to. I mean 7-8 hours (a night, not a week) of nothing but sleep. It's also important to remember that sleeping is a choice. It's very easy to say that you don't need sleep or you can get by just fine with 4 hours of sleep, but that's just not true.
Getting a good night's sleep changes everything. Without it, your brain can't function as it should, so you go through the whole day operating at only partial productivity. And sleeping in segments (3 hours sleep, 3 hours awake) is terrible and produces the same results. You'd get just as much sleep and twice as much benefit from sleeping if you bite the bullet and lie down for 7-8 hours at a time. When you're well rested you can concentrate more, take better notes in class, and that's just the start.
I know this may sound preachy, but it's a subject I feel very strongly about. I make the choice to sleep and it helps me in more ways that I can list here. Give it a try.
And last but certainly not least, Glee comes back tomorrow! I'm so excited. If you become a fan on facebook you can watch sneak peak videos and they look awesome! They sing "Hello Goodbye" and in one of the most recent videos Rachel sing-screams "Gives You Hell" at Finn. Poor guy. And Idina Menzel is guest starring as the coach of Vocal Adrenaline! Can't wait to see what Glee has in store for the second half of season one!

What Would Google Do?
Sorry I've been so busy lately- I promise to update polls and such soon! For now I want to comment on something specific...
So for my digital media studies class we've been reading "What Would Google Do?" by Jeff Jarvis (my teacher even skyped him into class to talk to us about it- very cool!). This book is awesome, I highly recommend it. I don't have much time to write now but I wanted to discuss one aspect of the book I found very interesting.
In his section on Google U- what a university would look like if ruled by the same principles that govern Google- he mentions something I would love to have. He says universities should set time aside for creation. (Google has a 20% rule with most of it's employees- 20% of the time working is spent on creating new things for Google). People can work on a book, song, computer program, etc, and it's part of the curriculum! Think of how much farther I'd be on my countless short stories if I wasn't so bogged down with school work! This solution is also feasible because it's not trying to get rid of the classroom or homework, just incorporate creation as well. Think of how many great authors, musicians, and programmers would be born if they were given time to fiddle around with what they enjoy- and didn't have to wait until after college to find the time to do it? I love this idea- what do you think?
Another fascinating thing he mentions is how Google is changing the way we live- even to the point of having a say in what we name our children. He says some people are giving children increasingly unique names so they can be better located in a google search, and some admit to basing their child's name on whether or not the domain name was free. This worries me- and I feel sorry for the child named BelchingOrange23 because that was a "unique" enough name.
